For betraying the trust of several of his bush war comrades and persecuting them when they raised their voice in protest, President Yoweri Museveni will not be pardoned by God in heaven.
This is according to the outgoing Parliamentary Leader of Opposition Hon. Wafula Oguttu who was recently voted out of the House by the people of Bukhooli County in Bigiri District.
The former publicist of the leading opposition Forum for Democratic Party (FDC) yesterday condemned the manner in which high ranking soldiers that fought physically to bring the NRM government in power had been mistreated by the same government under President Museveni.
Some of these he observed, have reached the extent of shedding tears publicly all because of the way they have been persecuted.
He pointed out the former head of Intelligence Gen David Sejusa who wept early this week during a thanksgiving function at his village home in Ssembabule district, as well as his party president Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu who a few weeks ago broke down during prayers at the FDC offices in Najjanankumbi.
“A little earlier on I had read a very touching post by Rtd. Col. Dr Besigye in the social media soon after he had suffered yet another episode of government persecution. Angry, he tweeted that he felt like he could be a terrorist,” said Oguttu.
“These compatriots are some of the then young Ugandans who risked their lives in a bush war that brought Museveni to power 30years ago. These Generals are weeping because they are being persecuted by a man they brought to power and he betrayed their revolution.”
The Leader of opposition noted that for this, God was unhappy with President Museveni.
“Some Generals died very sad men. You cannot load it over the people forever .God does not forgive that.”
Museveni recently accused the former NRA fighters, for abandoning him and the country when it needed them most.
He said Besigye and Gen. Muntu jumped ship and revolted in the middle of a deadly armed conflict in Northern Uganda and in the western region.
“But we managed to win these wars and flushed Kony and his men out of the county, without their help,” he said.
