Kabale Grade One Magistrate’s court has set 16th June 2016 when it will begin hearing the case in which a female pastor from Philippines is accused of conning five members of Life Up Jesus Church in Kabale district, including Pastor Margret Kizza the wife of Bishop Aloysius Kizza, under the pretext of taking them to Israel for pastoral work.
Pastor Lourdes S. Ascano according to prosecution, conned the church members of a significant amount of money in November 2013.
She allegedly obtained USD 8250, the equivalent of UGX 20,700,000 at that time from Pastor Margaret Kizza, Grace Higenyi, Josephine Tibisha, Molly Namanya and Pastor Frank Wayu under the pretext of taking them to Israel for a pastoral course work.
She according to prosecution told the victims that she had connections with celebrated Israeli televangelist Pastor Benny Hinn and Pastor Lasta Sandoras.
Stella Mwari the Kabale Grade One magistrate on Thursday set 16th June 2016 for commencement of the hearing and remanded the accused.
