
The Academic Registrar of Makerere University Noam Masikye has invited students to apply for the undergraduate programmes under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2017/18 academic year.
The exercise which began today Monday May 15, according to the university web portal, will be conducted both online and manually up to June 8, 2017.
Only candidates who sat “A” Level in 2016, 2015 and 2014 with Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) having at least (five passes), or an equivalent and at least two principal passes at Advanced Level obtained at the same sitting are eligible to apply.
It is only students applying “For Evening, Afternoon, and External programmes that are not restricted on the year of sitting “A” Level.”
For mature entrants, a candidate is required to “Hold at least a Second Class Diploma from a recognised institution, relevant to the programmes applied for.”
To access application forms, students will pay Shs50,000 plus bank charges of Shs2750 in any branches of Centenary, Stanbic, DFCU or Post bank. Non-Ugandan applicants will pay ShsShs.172,500.
According to the varsity website, “Application forms and other relevant information may be obtained from undergraduate admissions Office, Level 3, Senate Building – Makerere University.”
Students can also access application forms from the website.
Masikye warned students against forgery, saying it can lead to grave repercussions if the culprit is discovered.
“Applicants are strongly warned against presenting forged or other people’s academic documents to support their applications for admission. The consequences, if discovered, are very grave indeed,” he warned.
