The three Judges of the International Crimes Division Court have ruled today that former Tabliq Leader Sheikh Yunus Kamoga and 13 others have a case to answer in all the four counts against them.
These are accused of murdering Sheikh Mustapha Bahiga, Sheikh Hassan Kirya, and the attempted murder of Sheikh Haruna Jemba. They are also accused of Terrorism and Crimes against Humanity.
The three justices Jane Kiggundu, Percy Tuhaise and Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi the lead judge said that the court had been convinced by the testimony of the prosecution witnesses, and therefore found a prima facie case against all the 14.
The suspects were informed about their defense options, including giving unsworn evidence where they cannot be asked questions; sworn evidence where they can bring in witnesses; or simply keeping quite.
After this ruling, the accused persons appeared stronger and expressed readiness to defend themselves against the charges.
Meanwhile these were cheered and showed support by their relatives who filled the court house and the outside, amidst heavy security.
The accused persons are slated to commence their defense on 25th April 2017.
