As Parliament returns from recess, legislators and Ministers have been encouraged  to turn up for a three-day screening and testing for Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), an activity that commenced today Tuesday.

The exercise follows findings of increasing prevalence of NCD’s among Uganda’s middle class, where the government leaders fall.

The three day activity is organized by the Ministry of Health in conjunction with Life Care Diagnostics Limited, and will run from April 4th to 6th.

Lifecare Diagnostics Limited Public Relations Officer, Brenda Tusiime told Chimpreports that the activity is targeting MPs and Ministers with the view of promoting screening and testing of the highlighted diseases.

“Today is basically a set up but tomorrow will be the launch of the activity that targets MPs and Ministers; testing them of diseases such as Diabetes, High blood Pressure and Lipid Profile,” Tusiime said.

The activity is organized under the theme; “Promoting the importance of regular screening, diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases to reduce the risk of complications”.
