FIFA international friendly
Kenyatta stadium, Machakos
Kenya 1-1 Uganda
Moses Waiswa came off the bench to score for Uganda as Uganda cranes rallied back to hold Kenya in an international friendly game played at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos on Thursday.
Michael Olunga had given Harambee stars the lead in the first half but Waiswa who was making his maiden appearance for the Cranes came off the bench to score in the 85th minute.
Kenya started the better side and dominated the proceedings for majority of the game but had themselves to blame for failing to put the several chances away.
Olunga had a chance inside the opening two minutes off the game with Onyango laying him up but goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was in place to save.
The lanky forward who plies his trade in China also had another opportunity at the 10th minute mark receiving a pass from Noah Wafula but yet again failed to find the target.
Emmanuel Okwi’s effort from a free kick went begging with no Cranes player available to connect to it.
Veteran striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma also had another opportunity after lashing onto a long ball from Muzamir Mutyaba but the goalkeeper was quick to save.
Mutyaba attempted a long ball at the half hour mark when he saw goalkeeper had moved off his line but his effort missed the target by a few inches.
Three minutes later, Olunga broke the deadlock after receiving a long ball from goalkeeper Matasi before beating Habib Kavuma in a one on one situation to fire home.
With the clock ticking, Uganda pulled in the equaliser through Waiswa in the 88th minute from a tight angle on the right after beating Aboud Omar and chipping out goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.
