Thursday, 23rd April 2017 3pm
Uganda Cranes head coach has released the team that will start against Kenya in the international friendly game to be played today (Thursday) in Machakos, Kenya.
The team will be led by the on form duo of SC Villa’s Emmanuel Okwi and KCCA’s talisman Geoffrey Sserunkuma in search for the goals upfront.
The two strikers have been in scintillating form since the start of the year with Sserunkuma scoring 9 goals for KCCA FC in 8 games including 4 in the Total CAF champions league.
The veteran striker who also leads the scoring charts in the Uganda premier league will lead the search for goals against Kenya with Okwi playing off him.
Okwi like Sseeunkuma has been in sublime since his return to SC Villa scoring 7 goals in as many games for the Jogoos and also scoring for the Cranes in the regional tour last Sunday in Kamuli.
Benjamin Ochan starts in goal ahead of Ismael Watenga while the defence line is manned by Nicholas Wadada, Habib Kavuma (who returns to the cranes fold after a long time), Timothy Awany and Jjuko Murushid.
Captain of the day Hassan Wasswa starts in the holding midfield role while Mutyaba Muzamir takes the creativity mantle. Godfrey Walusimbi and Shafik Batambuze start on either attacking flanks.
