Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has announced a final shortlist of eight coaches to be interviewed for the Amavubi national team head coach position.
The eight have been dominated by foreign (European) coaches with two from Germany, two Belgians, One Portuguese, an English and Samson Siasia for Nigeria.
According to the selection panel no single Rwandan coach made the minimum cut for the country’s top job.
Up to 52 coaches forwarded their application for the job which was left vacant since August last year when John McKinstry was fired.
Top on the list is Belgium national Paul Put who took Burkina Faso to the 2013 Nations Cup final.
George Leekens who spent less than six months with Algeria before quiting following a disastrous Afcon is also on the list.
Winfred ‘Winni’ Schafer is the most high profile name in the list. He won the 2002 African nations cup with Cameroon, their last before this year’s glory.
