Jorum Mugabe, the head teacher Ntungamo Primary School in Kaharo Sub County Kabale District has been committed to civil prison in Ndorwa government Prison by the Kabale grade one magistrates court for failure to pay back a loan.
The court presided over by magistrate Raphael Vueni heard from the prosecution that Mugabe, on 11 August 2012 while at Unique Savings and Credit Cooperatives Association in Kabale municipality, acquired a loan totaling 6.15 million shillings but failed to return it.
Simon Nshabohurira, the manager Unique SAACO and Aggrey Kamugisha the Saaco operations manager told court that they have been asking Mugabe to refund the loan in vain until yesterday when he was picked up by the police after court issued a warrant of arrest.
When the case was read to him, the accused pleaded guilty but asked court to be given more time to look for the money; a plea that was rejected by Vueni who committed him to Ndorwa government prison.
