Kagadi Police are holding a 30 year old woman on allegations of murdering her own husband over land wrangles.
The Kagadi O/C Station Julius Jingo identified the suspect as Jolly Twikirize, a resident of Rutete sub-county in Kagadi district.
Jingo said the suspect is said to have murdered her husband Amos Tulyamubugana, 31, on Friday night in Mangoma village, Mabaale sub-county. The body was discovered in the morning in the house after Tikirize fled.
The suspect, Twikirize was however handed to Kagadi police yesterday Sunday morning by her parents.
Parents explained to police that their daughter rushed home in Rutete narrating she had killed the husband after quarreling over land. She believed he was selling their only plot of land to marry another woman.
According to the parents, Twikirize and her late husband first engaged in a fight and he tried to kill her using a machete.
The suspects told her parents that later they reconciled and went to sleep, but late in the night she woke up and beheaded him; covered his body with the blanket and fled the house.
Parents said she went straight to them in fear that she might be lynched by residents. The couple had 5 children
Meanwhille the O/C Kagadi police reached the scene and postmortem was carried out. Police has allowed burial arrangements to carry on.
