AFCON U17: Madagascar Stripped of Hosting Rights, Tanzania Readmitted

Continental football body, CAF, through its executive committee passed on a decision to strip off AFCON U17 hosting rights from Madagascar and award Gabon.

The committee sat on Friday and unanimously agreed to award the hosting rights to Gabon- the current hosts of the Africa cup of Nations.

Caf withdrew the rights from Madagascar after they failed to impress CAF inspection team with their facilities. The tournament has also been moved from April to May-June.

Tanzania readmitted
Tanzania lost 3-3 on aggregate to Congo after a 3-2 win in Dar Es Salaam and 1-0 loss in Brazzaville. TFF went ahead to contest the eligibility of Langa Lesse Bercy.

According to the tournament regulations, only players born after January 1st 2000. The player in question was summoned to Cairo to carry out a fresh Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test

He failed to turn up and was rescheduled to attend the same tests in Libreville, Gabon but was a no show. Caf therefore decided to disqualify Congo and reinstated Tanzania.
