Onduparaka 2-0 Gor Mahia
Kabon Living was the hero of the day as Onduparaka defeated Kenya Premier League giants Gor Mahia 2-0 in an international friendly game played on Saturday at Mandela national stadium.
The sharp shooter scored a goal in either half to help the caterpillars defeat Gor Mahia despite finishing the game with a man less.
In a game graced by former presidential candidate Col. Kiiza Besigye, the visitors began the better side with Jacques Tuyisenge getting the first chance of the game.
Thirty seconds after kickoff Timothy Okoth laid a low cross for Tuyisenge but his shot could not the target.
Onduparaka also came close to scoring five minutes later when Okhuti run behind Gor Mahia’s defence but goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch was swift enough to clear out of danger.
Richard Anyama almost cost Onduparaka at the 20 minute mark after he failed to dribble past Tuyisenge and lost possession but lanky defender Rashid Toha made two successive clearances off the line to deny Francis Kahata.
Kabon put the hosts ahead a minute to recess after Gor Mahia goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch fumbled with Gadafi Gadinho’s long range shot gifting Kabon with the rebound to tap home.
Onduparaka were reduced to ten men in the 62nd minute after right back Gasper Adriko was shown matching orders by referee Dennis Batte for time wasting.
The player had already been booked earlier in the first half.
However, a minute later Kabon doubled Onduparaka’s lead to send the fans into frenzy.
Gadaffi Gadinho ignited a run inside his own half before releasing Kabon Living with a defense splitting pass.
The latter rounded off goalkeeper Oluoch to fire into an empty net. Despite several changes by Gor Mahia coach Ze Mariah including introducing Meddie Kagere, the hosts held on to claim victory.
Onduparaka start the second round of the Uganda premier league on Wednesday with an away fixture against Proline at Phillip Omondi stadium.
