Express Football Club captain Sulaiman ‘Mike’ Mutyaba has retired from active football at the age of 26 due to a chronic knee injury.

The former Uganda Cranes and TP Mazembe sensation announced the developments while hinting on taking up management role.

“Am here to officially announce my retirement from active football,” Mutyaba posted in his social media account on Thursday morning.

He thanked Vipers Sports Club proprietor Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa and everyone who supported him in his football journey and encouraged parents to motivate their children to play football.

“Next is football administration thanks Mr Moses Magogo (Fufa president) for the offer as well,” he added.

Mutyaba started his football career at St. Marys Kitende before joining Bunamwaya Sports Club (now Vipers SC) in 2008 and later moved to Sudanese giants El Merreikh where he stayed until 2013. He later joined TP Mazembe but his term was short lived and he returned to Vipers SC and then Express FC.
