
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali has extended a congratulatory message to Yoweri Museveni on his re-election as the president of Uganda.
“I would like to congratulate him upon the victory in the recent presidential elections and I send him together with Mama Janet and entire family special greetings this Easter,” Rev. Ntagali said on Wednesday morning at his office in Namirembe.
The man of God in the same vein congratulated the other presidential candidates for participating in the electoral process, terming this as a good sign of democracy.
Commenting on the poll petition in the Supreme Court challenging the re-election of President Museveni, Rev. Ntagali urged the people to remain peaceful and calm as they wait for the outcome.
“Let us all be promoters of peace at all time,” he said.
Asked why the message had come late, the man of God said he has been on a 3 weeks leave and has just returned to office a few hours ago.
President Museveni was on 20th of February declared the winner of the election with 60.7%, beating his main challenger and FDC’s Dr.Kizza Besigye who got 35%.
Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has since challenged the outcome of the results at the Supreme Court.
