Uganda on Sunday wrote history when they qualified for the 2017 Afcon finals in Gabon thanks to a 34th minute goal from Farouk Miya that sunk Comoros.
The visitors were only lucky not to have conceded a number of goals thanks to their goalkeeper Ahamada who denied Cranes a chance to see the back of the net.

The special moment came in the 34th minute when Moses Oloya set up Miya to send a shot that went past the hosts’ goalkeeper giving Uganda the deserved lead.
It was a moment of madness as fans went crazy after the goal that ensured Uganda qualified after 38 years since the 1978 finals held in Ghana.

The visitors started the second half with a lot of energy that saw them test Cranes custodian Dennis Onyango but he stood firm sending the ball away for a corner that later yielded nothing.
The Cranes continued pressing hard in the second half only to miss more chances that would have ensured the home team put the lead beyond reach.

It was indeed a historic moment witnessed by the First Lady Janet Museveni, also the Education Minister, who was the chief guest on the day.

The win ensured Uganda was level on points in group D with leaders Burkina Faso who had to wait for a late minute winner against Botswana.
