The South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Wednesday hastily swore in the new ministers just a hours after their appointment to replace cabinet allied to the missing embattled First President Dr. Riek
Machar.

On Tuesday evening Kiir sacked the son of the SPLA founder Dr. John Garang from cabinet together with six other senior ministers from the Transitional Government of National Unity that was put in place just
two months ago.

Mr. Mabior Garang de Mabior who served as the Water and Irrigation minister was consequently replaced with the opposition figure from Gen. Taban Deng Gai’s camp.

Gen. Taban was recently installed by Kiir as the First Vice President to replace Machar who disappeared from capital Juba since the beginning of last month when war resumed in the country.

Among the new cabinet members who took oath at the presidential palace today are Michael Tiangjiek for Interior; Ezekiel Lul for Petroleum, Alfred Lado for Land and Housing, Gabriel Duop Lam for Labour, Gabriel Thok Deng for Mining, Yien O.L. Tut for Higher Education and Sofia A. Gai for Water Resources.
