The Kampala High Court has ordered over 47 businessmen to appear before it and explain within 15 days the reasons why they need to get money from Government

The summoned businessmen and companies include among others Ephraim Ntaganda, Ham Kiggundu, Desh Kagonyera, Roofings Ltd, Shumuk Aluminium Industries, UTODA Awakula Ennume and Club Silk.

Others are; Steel Rolling Mills Ltd, Molly and Paul Primary School, Lira Integrated Schools and co-operative unions such as  West Acholi and Sebei co-operatives.

Collins Hotel in Mukono, Garden Hotel, Ban Cafe and Hotel  Sojovalo have also been summoned by the court.

The above companies were jointly summoned with the Attorney General to respond to claims by a concerned citizen Moses Musinguzi that they have  contrived a plot to use tax-payers’ money to pay off their personal liabilities   owed to various banks that  amount to over one trillion shillings.

Musinguzi last week dragged the Attorney General and the said companies to High Court for declarations that drawing monies out of the consolidated fund can only be done while carrying out government programs and services such as paying out a public debt.

He also says it’s discriminatory for government to only bail out a few individuals yet every Ugandan take the same financial risk and liabilities as well as operating in the same economic environment like the 47 businesses.

The deputy court registrar Alex Ajiji has already signed the summons and allocated the case file to Justice Stephen Musota.
