Police led by RPC Wesley Nganizi and Wandegeya DPC Moses Nanoka have stormed Amazing Grace Gardens along Bombo Road where a book that is explicitly critical of President Yoweri Museveni was slated to be launched.

The book titled, Unsowing the Mustard Seed which seeks to counter President Yoweri Museveni’s Sowing the Mustard Seed was scheduled to be launched by youth pressure group the Jobless Brotherhood.

This is the group known to use pigs painted in yellow, the colour of the ruling NRM party, in their protests.

The book launch was expected to be presided over by former Supreme Court Judge Justice George Wilson Kanyeihamba.

Also according to the program seen by Chimpreports, the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was expected in attendance.

Police led Nganizi and Nakoka stormed the venue and asked everyone to leave.

The officers said the management of the venue was not aware of the function, and that it was the manager who alerted the police.

Norman Tumuhimbise, the President of the Jobless Brotherhood and author of the book however, insisted that the venue managers were aware or the function and were fully paid.

He also presented receipts confirming the payment for the venue and insisted that if they were unwelcome, they should be refunded their money with interest.

Nganizi nonetheless ordered his men to arrest the organizers and confiscate their materials that included banners prompting, the organizers led by Tumuhimbise to disperse.

The event then turned into a cat and mouse game as police tried to arrest the organizers who in turn hurled copies of the book at the patrol vehicle.

Addressing journalists after the foiled launch, Tumuhimbise said it was wrong for the law enforcement officers to disrupt a legal assembly without a reason.
