Police has come out to clarify on the heightened deployment at the residence of the Minister for Kampala, Beti Olive Namisango Kamya in Lungujja.
Security personnel on Tuesday morning cordoned off the Minister’s residence with several of them notable at the entrance gate.
Some security personnel occupied the road that leads to her home.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Emillian Kayima, the deployment was as “a result of intelligence received of young misguided people harboring criminal intentions of either attacking or injuring her.”

Kamya has been under intense criticism over her controversial orders concerning eviction of street vendors on Kampala streets among other issues.
The minister recently ordered that tuktuks should be banned from operating in Kampala Central.
Tuktuks are three-wheeled motorcycles commonly used to carry merchandise but can as well be used to chauffeur passengers.

Kamya has also reportedly received threats from a number of people most of whom have been affected by her policies in the city.
Kayima said; “It was therefore prudent to deploy as a deterrent measure but we have also opened a General Enquiries File to investigate these matters.”
