Kagadi police are stranded with a baby about eight months old, that was abandoned by its parents in Kyakijoka village in Kabamba Sub County.
The boy, who seems to be suffering from malnutrition, was found by residents in a maize garden on Sunday afternoon. He is believed to have been left there for days.
Peter Ongwara the Kagadi District Police Commander says the abandoned baby was on Monday morning handed to Kagadi Police by World Voices Uganda, a local NGO which took responsibility to get the boy from residents who found him.
Ongwara says the hunt is on for the baby’s parents who are still unknown and asked locals with helpful information on the matter to contact police.
The Local Council III chairperson of Kabamba sub-county Augustino Kakyimbiri, who lead the operation with residents to pick the abandoned baby boy from the maize garden condemned the act by the “heartless parents” but suspected that these could have come from others palaces outside his sub-county.
The baby in currently admitted at Kagadi government hospital.
By Tuesday, police were getting in touch with an organisation called Bless the Children Ministries Mabaale, Kagadi district to take care of the baby.
