Business was paralyzed this morning at the City Square as police together with court bailiffs confiscated Pioneer Easy buses over debts.

The bailiffs from Libra Auctioneers led by Bonney Lwamukaga told Chimpreports they were acting on an attachment order issued on 10th April 2017 by His Worship Muse Musimbi, the High Court Registrar in charge of Bailiffs; for the attachment of 27 Pioneer Buses to cover a Shillings 140 million debt which city business man Charles Mushabe is owed by the bus company.

Mushabe says this money resulted from an unpaid debt of Shs. 75 Million for spare parts he supplied to the bus company, plus Shs 11 million in damages and 59 Million in interest accumulated.

Although the attachment order talks of 27 buses, by publication of this only 10 buses had been attached and taken to Nansana Town Council Parking under tight security of Uganda police personnel in each of the impounded buses.

Passengers who had already paid for trips in the attached buses were seen in long queues demanding refunds.

Some of the buses attached are those plying the Nakawa, Luzira and Ntinda routes.

Pioneer bus managers were still unavailable for comments by publication.
