SC Villa 1-0 Vipers
Striker Umar Kasumba scored the solitary goal as Sports Club Villa edged past wasteful Vipers in the game played at Masaka Recreation ground on Tuesday.
Vipers will have themselves to blame for wasting the chances they had especially in the first half before Villa surged up in the second period to eventually win the game.
Umar Kasumba struck home midway through the second half to help SC Villa earn a league double over Vipers. The Jogoos had won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Nakivubo stadium.
Vipers started the better side and had the opportunity to take the break but Ssekisambu who was blunt on the day kept squandering them.
Brian Nkuubi’s ferocious effort in the 13th minute was saved by goalkeeper Samson Kirya but Erisa Ssekisambu blew the chance faced with just an empty net.
Nkuubi has another chance from a free kick again in the 24th minute but Kirya was in place to tip the ball over.
Ssekisambu was yet again culpable, missing another opportunity with his effort just outside the area but went off target.
The deciding moment came in the 70th minute with Kasumba breaking the deadlock.
A cross from Godfrey Lwesibawa met Martin Kiiza but his shot was saved by Ismail Watenga. However, Kasumba was at the right place to tap home the rebound.
The result means SC Villa cemented their stay in second position on 55 points while Vipers remain 3rd on 49 points.
