CAF Confederation Cup
Group A
FUS Rabat 3-0 KCCA FC
Uganda’s representatives in the Total CAF Confederation Cup suffered a comprehensive defeat in their opening group game against Morocco’s Faith Union Sport (FUS) Rabat.
Playing at the stage for the first time, KCCA FC struggled to match their opponents who dominated proceedings for majority of the game.
FUS Rabat eventually went ahead to win the game 3-0 at the stade du FUS on Sunday morning.
The hosts had a perfect start getting the opener just seven minutes after kickoff through Brahim El Bahri.
Bahri’s initial effort off a header hit the woodwork but he was able to tap home the rebound to give Rabat the lead.
FUS Rabat who outwitted SC Villa 7-0 last season continued to dominate proceedings and got the second goal at the stroke of halftime.
Yusufa O M Njie struck home from close range from a ground cross and the Moroccan side headed into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Despite KCCA FC manager, Mike Mutebi making changes introducing Noel Nasasira and Ivan Ntege for Dennis Rukundo and Brian Majwega, the hosts kept surging forward.
Second half substitute Karim Ben Arif put the game beyond reach tapping home Yusupha O M Njie’s cross in the 77th minute.
The result means FUS Rabat go top of group A on 3 points ahead of Club Africain and Rivers United who play on Sunday.
KCCA FC next game will be a home encounter against Tunisia’s Club Africain on 24th May at Phillip Omondi stadium.
