Friends, Relatives Mourn Fallen URSB Boss Maudah

Friends and relatives Monday afternoon poured their hearts out while eulogizing the deceased Head of Registry at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Maudah Atuzarirwe who died in a road accident on Saturday morning on the Mbarara- Masaka Highway.

The Chief Justice Bart Katureebe described the deceased as great friend who always called him and gave him advice on issues she thought were not going the right way.

“One day she called my wife saying she had something to tell me but was only willing to tell it to me in person,” Katureebe told mourners during Atuzarirwe’s memorial service at Christ the King Church in Kampala on Monday.

“I was out of the country, she called again and I agreed to meet her at my home where we shared a cup of tea. Later she passed on the piece of advice she had to me. I realized she was a friend indeed.”

Agie Kabwisho, a close friend to the former head of registry summarized the deceased as selfless, generous and a confidant to everyone.

“Whenever she had a friend, she made sure she got to know all the people you associated with and also made sure you knew all her circles,” Kabwisho described the deceased.

“She was always there in good and bad times.”

Mr. Potius Byarugaba of Byarugaba and Company Advocates where Atuzarirwe worked as a lawyer for 5 years described her as a great friend since childhood who always cheered them up even at work.

“She would enter office and monitor our mood before later asking what was wrong and then crack jokes to light up our days,” Mr.Byarugaba said.

According to Byarugaba, whenever   their law firm dragged someone to court and the deceased was leading their team of lawyers, she would be seen hugging and laughing with the offender.

“Her death shocked us. We could not believe she was gone until we saw her body in the mortuary.”

Friends described the deceased as a jolly human being who loved God so much.

Death

Maudah Atuzarirwe died after losing control of her Toyota Spacio she was driving from Kampala to Bushenyi on Saturday to attend a function by the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association where she was a member as the Master of Ceremony.

According to doctors, the deceased broke 8 ribs and one of them pierced the liver causing bleeding in the stomach.

Biography

Born on August 4, 1974 in Igara, Bushenyi district to Mr. and Mrs.Remigio Banyanga, Atuzarirwe started her primary school at Kiyaga before joining St.Cecilia Girls’ Vocational School and Kyeizooba  Girls High School .

In 1994 she joined Immacualte Heart Girls’ school in Rukungiri for her A level and in 1997 she graduated with a Bachelors of law from Makerere university.

Atuzarirwe joined the Ministry of  Justice and Constitutional Affairs  in 2000 as a State Attorney  at the Registrar  General now Uganda Registration Services Bureau and left in 2012  as a Director Busines registrar.

She has also been a lawyer with Byarugaba and Company advocates as well as a lecturer at the Law Development Centre.

Maudah Atuzarirwe will be laid to rest on Tuesday at Kantunda, Bumbaire in Bushenyi district.
