Uganda Cup Quarterfinals
Police 0-1 KCCA FC

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) kept their hopes of winning a domestic double by progressing to the semifinals.

The Lugogo based side needed a late surge in extra time to go past a resilient Police FC in the game played at Mandela national stadium.

Forward Derrick Nsibambi continued his goal scoring run in the cup tapping home the lone goal of the game in extra time.

After a cagy play in normal time, KCCA FC surged up in extra time with Nsibambi tapping home from close range Paul Mucureezi’s low pass.

Police FC had a chance to level matters with three minutes to the end of extra time and maybe force the game into spot kicks after referee Rajab Bakasambe awarded the cops a penalty.

Dennis Rukundo had handled the ball in the area but midfielder Rahmat Ssenfuka failed to convert the resultant penalty with goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo parrying the ball onto the crossbar before saving.

The result means KCCA FC now will play against rivals Express FC in the semifinals that are played on a home and away basis.

The other semifinal has Fufa Big league side Paidha Black Angels who ejected holders Vipers taking on Sadolin Paints.

The final is scheduled for 27th May at the Greenlight stadium in Arua District.
