The Good Friday as it is commonly known, is the Friday that precedes Easter Sunday, on which believers carry crosses and trek in commemoration of Jesus’ passion.

In Kampala, believers under the Uganda Joint Christian Council joined together in the way of the cross as they walked with crosses to Old Kampala Secondary School playground where the main service was held.

While preaching at the function, the leader of the Orthodox Church in Uganda, Metropolitan Yonah Lwanga said that Christians ought to have God on their hearts and entire lives and avoid.

“We need to reflect on this day when Jesus suffered with the big cross. We should not always wait for laws to do good. God who wants us to do good should always be in our hearts,” Metropolitan Lwanga said.

He said that those who accept God and do what He requireswill always be freed like Jesus did when He died on the cross at Golgotha.

“We have to work hard so as to enter the family of God and become his children. Many of us pretend to be worshipers yet in our hearts we do the contrary.”

The Anglican Church Archbishop Stanley Ntagali said there is need to reflect on the life of Jesus and the suffering He went through.

The Christians also took time off to pray for the slain police spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi who was described as a strong believer who always graced the way of the cross while still alive.
