Uganda Cup: Nsibambi Comes Off the Bench to Rescue KCCA FC

Kataka 2-5 KCCA FC

Kampala Capital City Authority football club(KCCA FC) needed a late surge to overcome hard fighting Kataka FC in the Uganda Cup.

In the game played at Nabini playground, Bufumbo in Mbale District Kataka took a 2-1 lead at halftime but KCCA scored three late goals to eventually win 5-2.

KCCA FC failed to acclaymatise to the rough playing surface earlier in the game and Kataka used the chance to frustrate the visitors with long balls.

Brian Majwega tapped home with easy picking a rebound after goalkeeper Edward Kasibante had failed to deal with a ferocious effort from Ivan Ntege in the 23rd minute.

Junior Amanya levelled matters five minutes after the half hour mark with a superb freekick that left goalkeeper Charles Lukwago with no effort at all.

Kataka took the lead at the stoke of halftime through forward Nassur Mandala to send the fans into wild cheers.

Mutebi opted for changes after recess introducing Derrick Nsibambi, Paul Mucureezi and Geoffrey Sserunkuma at the start of the second stanza.

The changes paid off dividends with Nsibambi scoring twice in the game.

Brian Majwega converted a penalty in the 68th minute after defender Tiff Kakhande held the ball in the forbidden area.

With the game destined for a stalemate, Nsibambi scored off Mucureezi’s cross before adding another in the final five minutes of the game.

Defender Walter Ochora converted into his own net inside the added six minutes to erase any chanced of forcing a result.

The result means KCCA FC will play Police FC in the quarts finals.
