The Ugandan government through the office of the Prime Minister has dispatched food relief to the starving communities of Toroma County in Katakwi district days after Police blocked FDC’s Dr. Kizza Besigye from doing the same.
The exercise was headed by state minister for disaster preparedness and refuges Hon Musa Ecweru who on Sunday morning addressed press at his village home in Amuria district.
According to Minister Ecweru, government dispatched food mainly to the hard hit Sub Counties of Toroma, Magoro, Kapujan, Omodoi and Ngariam all in Toroma County Katakwi District.
He said each Sub County will be given 40 metric tons of food.
Ecweru reiterated that Government is not ready to let die any of its citizens due to hunger.
He also confirmed that the Office of the Prime Minister through the disaster ministry has received Uganda shillings 10 billion for this particular exercise.
The minister also revealed that government has acquired first maturing seeds to be given to farmers in the affected areas, adding that distribution will start soon.
