2016/17 Uganda Cup
Vipers 7-0 Kiboga Young
Uganda Cup holders Vipers Sports Club made light work over minnows Kboga Young at the round of 16 to book a berth into the quarter finals.
Despite missing several key starters with Ismael Watenga, Nicholas Wadada, Milton Karisa and Moses Waiswa all missing in action due to national team duty, Vipers had a strong squad to ease past Kiboga Young.
Erisa Ssekisambu who was the top scorer last season with six goals took the duty into his own hands netting five as Vipers demolished hapless Kiboga Young 7-0 at St. Mary’s stadium on Thursday.
Ssekisambu opened the scores as early as the 7th minute tapping home Duncan Sseninde before he went ahead to complete a quick hat trick inside the opening 33 minutes.
His second was a tap in off Mike Sserumaga’s rebound while the third was a conversion from the spot kick after Sserumaga was tripped in the box.
At the stoke of halftime, Ssekisambu scored his fourth goal of the day still getting the assist from Sserumaga.
The hosts remained rampant even after recess with Ssekisambu adding one before Brian Nkuubi and Brian Kakaire also got their names onto the scoresheet .
Youngster Frank Tumwesigye popularly called Zagga made his senior debut for Vipers replacing Sserumaga in the 58th minute and set up Ssekisambu for the final goal of the day.
Vipers now become the second team to qualify for the quarterfinals joining Paidha Black Angels who defeated Fort Portal Boda Boda.
