The Federation of Uganda Football Associations(FUFA) has Wednesday morning launched the campaign to come up with design of the new national team jersey.
The campaign was officially launched by Fufa President,Engineer Moses Magogo during the weekly press conference held on at the Fufa House in Mengo.
“Like we said that after the AFCON tournament in Gabon that we shall retire the historic jersey, today is the occasion when we officially launch the campaign to usher in a new design,” he said.
“We bring a campaign whereby for one month starting today will be running for any Ugandan, or group of Ugandan or organisation that is interested in coming up with the new design,” Magogo added.
The competition will be open to the general public to submit their best designs to a panel of judges for a month starting today up to 22nd April 2017.
The competition will be open in three categories including the men’s national team(Uganda cranes), Crested Cranes(women) that will each have a unique design.
The competition also caters for the other national teams that include the national beach soccer team (Sand cranes), U23 (The Hippos), U20 (The Kobs) and U17 (the cubs).
Unlike previously where all the national teams have been using the same design, this time round the Uganda cranes and Crested cranes jerseys will be different in design while the other subsequent teams will also have another design.
The selected design will then be handed over to FUFA’s official kit manufacturer Errea with the colors remaining predominantly red and yellow for the home kit and white for away kit.
The overall winner at the end of the campaign will walk away with a cash prize of UGX 5 million shillings and will also watch Uganda cranes games at home for free.
This will be first time that the public will engage in the formulation of the design for the national team Jersey.
