The High Court in Jinja has Thursday afternoon released on bail, the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister Yowana Tembo Kitsumbire.
Kitsumbire through his lawyers led by Caleb early this month asked the court to have him released on bail citing poor health and his advanced age.
On Thursday afternoon, Justice Eva Luswata accepted to grant Kitsumbire a non cash bail bond of sh 75million whereas each of his sureties was given a shs shs100 million none cash bond.
“You are prohibited from travelling outside Uganda except upon formal application. Your movement is restricted within Wakiso, Kampala and Jinja,” Justice Luswata ruled.
The Rwenzururu premier was also not allowed to access Bundibugyo, Kabarole and Kasese districts whereas the restriction on movement can be reviewed once every 4 months whenever necessary.
He was also ordered to appear once every month before Chief Magistrate’s Court in Jinja or the appropriate designated Registrar until he is committed for trial in High Court.
Kitsumbire was arrested on December 15 last year following the Rwenzori region bloodshed earlier in November that led to death of more than 100 people.
