The Saints 0-2 SC Villa
Sports club Villa have climbed top of the Uganda premier league table with a 2-0 victory against the Saints in the game played at the Champions stadium, Mwererwe.
The game delayed to kickoff following a heavy down pour and the two sides failed to get the spark in the opening 45 minutes of the game but the Jogoos eventually surged up to claim maximum points and topple KCCA FC off the league summit.
On form striker Emmanuel Arnold Okwi continued his scoring spree getting the opener before left back John Adriko scored his maiden goal for the 16 time league champions.
Despite Saints being resistent, Okwi broke the deadlock at the hour mark with cool finish inside the box.
A cross from enterprising winger Martin Kiiza met Okwi well positioned, got the time to control before slotting home past goalkeeper Alex Mugabi to give SC Villa the lead.
The boggy pitch proved a disadvantage for either side with the two teams playing a cautious game.
Left back John Adriko put the game beyond reach with a scorcher about 30 yards from goal to register his first goal in the Villa Jersey.
The result means SC Villa ascend to the summit of the league on 44 points, four above KCCA FC but the later have four games in hand while points remain 13th on 23 points
