Robert Achema struck twice in the second half to give BUL FC a vital victory over Bright stars on Tuesday afternoon in Jinja.
The game started on a low note; both sides employing reserved strategies with more action in the midfield without much in attack.
Bright Stars made the first close at the half hour mark. Bogere picked a clearance from the mid pack and sped through to the right flank and unleashed a cross to find Segujja unmarked inside 12 yards but his thumping header rose above range with only keeper to beat.
Bul retaliated with a quick counter attack through Magombe to Sibira who floated for Oromchan to finish off. Sebwato sped off his line to avert danger.
Bagoole had a powerful drive thwarted by Sebwato some minutes into the break. Makeshift coach, Onen was forced to replace Villa Oromcan following a terrible aerial collision.
Robert Achema was introduced just before the referee called for a break.
Achema’s introduction reignited the hosts attack line and the efforts paid in the first five minutes. The striker exchanged well with Yunus and Bagoole before the latter laid for him to finish from inside the box but Andrew Kaggwa hacked him down.
The referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot. Sebwato guessed rightly to his right but Achema’s shot was too strong sending the fans into frenzy.
Achema sealed the three points in the 72nd. Bagoole initiated another run in the right before cutting in for Achema inside the six yard box.
The win lifts BUL above relegation zone to 23 points while Bright Stars stand four points ahead on eighth place.
