
Ahead of the return leg against Mamelodi Sundowns due this weekend, Uganda’s representatives in the CAF champions league, KCCA FC have released a detailed programme to have better crowd management.
While addressing the media at Phillip Omondi stadium on Monday, club chairman, Julius Raymond Kabugo indicated that they have set new strategies to give the fans a great atmosphere come Saturday.
“Once again, we have a very big game coming up. We have had issues on a couple of games before but we have learnt from experience and gaps,” said the club chairman.
“We have always tried to mitigate whatever gaps we have had in the previous games by making sure we improve in the subsequent games and that’s why we are laying new strategies ahead of the game against Mamelodi Sundowns,” he added.
There have been cases of violence at Phillip Omondi stadium this season with the recent one happening in the game against Onduparaka where fans pelted stones.
The club CEO, Mr. David Tamale announced that match day tickets will be sold much earlier and this time round not at the stadium gates so as to have better access to the stadium.
“A few changes therein for purposes of enhancing better match day management including having tickets before game day and not at the stadium gates as before,” said the club CEO.
“We have gone into agreement with selected Shell Fuel stations where match tickets will be sold starting Monday,” he revealed.
There has been increment from in the prices of match day tickets. The ordinary tickets will go for UGX 10,000, the VIP tickets will be purchased at UGX 20,000 while the VVIP tickets will go for UGX 50,000.
The selling points include Shell Lugogo, Shell Ben Kiwanuka street, Shell Kawempe, Shell Makindye, Shell Kabalagala, Shell Capital(Kampala Road), Shell Jinja Road, Shell Bugolobi, Shell Nakawa, Shell Mulago, Shell Bakuli and Shell Mengo.
Jinja Road Police DPC, Superintendent Eliau Mose Osega assured the public that Police will provide ample security on match day.
“Security will be guaranteed and as commander I want to assure the fans intending to come on Saturday that we shall deploy enough officers to make sure we leave no gaps,” he indicated.
KCCA FC lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns last week at Lucas Moripe stadium and will be seeking to win at home as the two sides meet at Phillip Omondi stadium this Saturday in the return leg of the first round of the 2017 Total CAF champions league.
The winner on aggregate will advance to the group stages
