Police in Kabale district last night rounded up 62 suspected criminals during a night operation.
The suspects who included 14 commercial sex workers were arrested during the police patrols.
Most of the suspects were found at Bombocha Pub, New California T &J pub and Accommodation and Oasis Pub while others were intercepted walking along the streets.
Dickens Bindeeba, the Kabale District Police Commander says the operation is aimed at reducing the rate of criminal acts since.
This, the DPC said, is a joint operation between police and the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), which was launched after locals complained of increasing robberies and burglary.
Bindeeba says all suspects failed to explain exactly where they stayed and couldn’t show any identification to the security operatives before they were arrested.
The suspects are currently detained at Kabale Central Police Station. These will be screened and the bad ones will be aligned in courts of law and charged accordingly.
