The South Sudan rebel leader Dr. Riek Machar has returned to the war ravaged nation from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa having left since the start of the two year armed conflict.
The rebel leader who is also destined to become the Vice President crossed into the country through the Ethiopian border of Gambella on Tuesday evening.
Machar, according to sources, headed straight to the SPLA- In Opposition headquarters in Pagak where he was received by his General Chief of Staff, Gen. Chayout Manyang Wur who is also the
governor of Upper Nile state.
“The Commander-in-Chief arrived in Pagak this evening,” a source at the headquarters said.
Dr. Machar is expected in Juba on Monday next week and the preparation for the inauguration of Government of National Unity also expected to start after his arrival.
His deputy Alfred Lado Gore landed in Juba on Tuesday afternoon.
