Rwenzururu king Charles Wesley Mumbere on Monday reported to Jinja Chief Magistrate’s Court as part of his bail conditions.
Earlier this month, Mumbere was granted bail after entering a deal with government in which he agreed to adhere to a number of conditions as set by court.
While granting him bail, Jinja High Court Judge Michael Elubu ordered that the Omusinga should report to the Magistrate’s Court once in a month until trial of his case begins.

On Monday morning, chauffeured in a police Land Cruiser with 2 patrol pickups full of UPDF and police counter terrorism guards, he arrived at court together with his Queen Agnes Ithungu.
Omusinga in addition to the guards on the 2 patrol vehicles also had a UPDF Aide De Camp (ADC) who carried his diary and at all times stood by him.

In court, Mumbere who was seated with his queen kept a low profile as he followed the proceedings.
Dressed in a blue suit, the Rwenzururu king was seen speaking and wishing his subjects well shortly after court proceedings that saw his bail extended to March 6.
More Charged
Meanwhile, 3 more royal guards were on Monday charged in connection to the bloody Kasese Violence that left over 100 people including UPDF soldiers and policemen dead.
The 3 included Kule Manansi, Bwambale Bamutenda and Robinson Irenga.
These increased the number of people charged over the Kasese violence to 172 together with the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere.
According to the state, these had been detained at Nalunfenya police station. The group is charged with several counts of murder, treason, terrorism and robbery in relation to the violence in the Rwenzori region last year.
The defense lawyers led by Caleb Alaka, Evans Ochieng and Samuel Muyizzi also tasked the state to produce more suspects whom they said appeared on the charge sheet but couldn’t be accounted for. The case has been adjourned to March 6.
