Dr Margaret Mungherera Dies in India

Former President of the World Medical Association Margaret Mungherera has passed away aged 59.

Dr Mugherera, a renowned psychiatrist and medical administrator reportedly breathed her last in India today.

The details of her passing were still scanty by publication.

At the time of her passing, the decorated Psychiatrist had served in various potions, at home and abroad, and recently retired as President of the World Medical Association and civil service.

Dr Mungherera has been described by friends and colleagues as high caliber Rotarian, — having served as President of the Rotary Club of Kampala West; — a dedicated medical practitioner of world class and a role model to many.

Civil Service

Mungherera served  from 1992 until 2000 as a registrar at the Butabika Hospital and 2000 until 2003, she worked as a consultant psychiatrist at the Mulago National Referral Hospital and was responsible for forensic services.

Since 2003, she has served as a senior consultant psychiatrist at the Mulago Hospital Complex, responsible for psychiatric emergency services.

Since 2012, she has been the clinical head of the Directorate of Medical Services (Departments of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry) at the Mulago National Referral Hospital.
