
Hosts Buziga Islamic Theological Institute outclassed St. Kizito High School – Namugongo and East High School Ntinda to emerge winners of the boys’ category in the first ever Kampala Schools Woodball Championship that took place on Saturday.
Ten schools participated in the one day event that presented four categories; the primary school boys and girls plus the high schools for both gender.
Buziga Islamic Theological Institute emerged overall best in the category despite not featuring in the podium positions.
Joel Kwesiga from East High School (Ntinda) hit 68 strokes, one ahead of Muhammad Kasibante from St. Kizito High School – Namugongo while Joseph Mukasa (St. Mark’s College Namagoma) finished third with 70 strokes.
In the secondary schools section, St. Mark’s College Namagoma duo Mary Namara (61) and Julian Nalugemwa (64) led the group ahead of Saudah Nakivumbi from the host school.
In a related development, Mr. Nambale Haruna who was the Chief Guest at the event promised to organize a workshop for teachers in Makindye Division next term and include the Championship on the Makindye Division calendar for next year.
He further promised to have KCCA fund schools to compete at subsequent Schools Woodball Championship organised by UWbF.
The best schools in each category will join other already qualified schools from Nakawa, Mukono and Entebbe Schools Woodball Championships held earlier to compete at the 7th ICPAU Juniors Woodball Championship on June 11, 2016 at King’s College Budo.
