Kampala Capital City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has threatened to sue Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director (ED), Jennifer Musisi and government over Sh500m salary and allowance arrears.
Lukwago says he wants KCCA to pay his salary of Sh16m and allowances of Sh2.5m per month since he was thrown out of his office in November 2013.
He told Chimp Reports on Friday that he has been patient with the matter despite facing challenges including fueling and servicing his government car and paying his staff.
“It is now time to receive my money because I have worked for it; am still the Lord Mayor and have always been since there has never been a bi-election organized,” Lukwago said.
To this effect, Lukwago has written to KCCA Executive Director through his lawyers requesting for immediate pay of his arrears not later than April 15.
“I demand that you process payment of all my salary arrears and other emoluments together with that of the staff attached to my office that accrued since November 2013.”
“It should be remitted by April 15 to save off unnecessary litigation over the same; for am a Lawyer and I know what to do.” Lukwago warned.
According to Lukwago, despite government putting aside Sh500m to clear his arrears in the 2015/2016 budget, this has never been affected by KCCA for unclear reasons.
Lukwago has as well set up a team led by his personal assistant administrator, Sarah Kanyike together with his political assistant Deo Mbabazi to work out all the modalities for his swearing in ceremony.
