African cup of Nations 2017
Mali vs Uganda 10pm
Group stage games at the 2017 African cup of Nations climax on Wednesday with two fixtures in Group D.
Uganda takes on Mali at Stade de Oyem while record champions Egypt play Ghana at stade Port Gentil.
With Uganda cranes already eliminated after losing the opening two games, there’s literally nothing at stake but head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic insists they will treat the game against Mali like any other encounter.
“We reached here with an intention to play three cup finals,” Micho said.
“I am happy with the fact that we went very close in the first two finals; however football took away from us.” he added.
“I need to assure our supporters that we shall field our strongest team. It is our strong desire to end the tournament with our heads high.” Micho emphasized.
18 of the 23 players in camp have been fielded during the two matches and only five -Salim Jamal, Shafiq Batambuze, Yunus Ssentamu,Timothy Awany and Robert Odongkara- have not got playing time.
Mali need to win and hope Ghana defeat Egypt in the other encounter to stand any chance of progressing to the quarterfinals.
The Eagles began the campaign with a goalless draw against Egypt but fell 1-0 to Ghana and their chances to advance seem far beyond their control.
