With final preparations for the forthcoming African cup of Nations in high gear, every player in the Uganda cranes camp is focused on making sure he makes the final squad to Gabon.
Cranes coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic too has been impressed with everyone’s commitment and attitude.
“I’m very satisfied with the commitment and dedication of players in the training sessions,” he said.
“Everyone is fighting for a place,” Micho added.
However, Micho still thinks there is room for improvement in the remaining few days.
“There’s a huge room for development and space for improvement and I’m expecting that as time progresses, we can get the quality preparation that will us get the desired results,” Micho stated.
About players who are yet to join the camp that’s Robert Odongkara, Dennis Onyango and Luwagga William Kizito, Micho believes they will be in great shape by the time they link up with the team.
“Odongkara is joining us today so he will train with us here in Tunis while we believe Onyango is perfect conditions but we will be joining us in Dubai because there is no reason of him coming to Tunisia yet he has to be at the CAF glo awards in Nigeria,” he said.
“For Luwagga, he will be playing a game for Rio Ave and we believe that can offer him better conditioning before he joins camp,” Micho added.
Micho further stressed that the buildup game against Tunisia on 4th January (Wednesday) will be used to select the final 23 man squad.
“The game won’t be for preparations but rather a selection match. And because we are required to use just 17 players, we shall field most of the players that are not yet sure of their places on the team,” said the Serbian tactician.
Uganda cranes who are in Tunisia in the preparation for African cup of Nations will later this week (5th January) move to Dubai where they will play two more friendlies against Slovakia and Ivory Coast on 8th and 11th January respectively.
Uganda is in group D alongside Ghana, Egypt and Mali.
