In the wake of rampant match fixing allegations connected with the local football leagues, Fufa president Eng. Moses Magogo has on Tuesday Morning been summoned to the Police CID Headquarters in Kibuli to assist in providing information that could help investigations on the subject matter.
The football chief was invited by the Director, Criminal Investigations D/SSP Katherine Kusemererwa in a letter dated 15th December, 2016 Under section 27A of the Police Act (Cap.303).
“Fufa president Eng. Moses Magogo reports to CID HQ this morning and presents himself as per the invitation,” Fufa deputy CEO Mr. Humphrey Mandu confirmed adding that, “there was a couple of interactive minutes with the Authorities and nothing much serious. The president is back to his federation engagements.”
According to the invitation letter, which ChimpSport accessed, Police are currently investigating a case of Alleged match-fixing and pre determination of results of matches.
Eng. Moses Magogo was particularly required to report to the commissioner of Police General Crimes Department to get further details on his role in aiding the investigations.
Recently, Police FC sacked former international defender Godfrey Kateregga and Sadat Kyambadde after they allegedly “confessed their involvement in match fixing and predetermination of results.”
League giants SC Villa had suspended about five players at the end of last season for the same vice and later in November URA FC cracked the whip on senior players Oscar Agaba and Fahad Kawooya on similar counts.
