Quantum Logistics boss Matthew Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend together with brother will spend Christmas day in Luzira prison after court adjourned their murder case up to next year.
On Tuesday, Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court adjourned up to January their case for mention after being told that the state is still trying round the clock to finalize with investigations.
The state prosecutor Rachael Nabwire told court presided over by Grade One Magistrate Noah Ssajabbi that investigations are still ongoing, asking for more time.
“We ask for further adjournment,” Nabwire told court, prompting the Grade One Magistrate to adjourn the case for mention to January 3, 2017.
Kanyamunyu (39) is accused together with his Burundian girlfriend(26) Cynthia Munwangari and his brother Joseph Kayamunyu(40) of murder.
Prosecution alleges that the accused and others still at large on November 12 along Kampala-Jinja highway near Malik car bond opposite UMA main gate with malice aforethought caused the death of Kenneth Akena, a social worker.
Police have since recovered the pistol used to shoot Akena dead by the accused but ChimpReports has since understood that they have failed to put together pieces of evidence to link Kanyamunyu to the murder.
