Coach Matia Lule enjoyed a winning start to his tenure at Express FC as his team made away with a 2-1 advantage away to Soana FC on Tuesday.

The Red Eagles travel to Jinja to face relegation dogged Jinja Municipal Council as they close first round business. JMC Hippos have not yet won a league match and sit bottom of the table.

The hosts are hampered with several injuries in their camp but coach Lutaalo believes those available will do the job and break the unwanted season jinx.

Hippos defeated Express at Kakindu earlier in March with two goals from centre back Walangarira Musa and Richard Wandyaka.

“All our efforts are focused towards winning our first game though it’s not going to be easy but we are still hopeful,” coach Lutalo said.

JMC have drawn two of their last five matches conceding seven goals while Express lost only one of their last five.

The team had gone seven games without a victory prior to Mathias Lules appointment.

Express lost both games at Kakindu last season with an identical 2-0 to JMC hippos and Bul FC.

“Preparations have gone well and team is ready to put in a good shift to the game,” Express coach Matia Lule said.

“I can’t promise a win but if we play good game we can get all the three points. I request the fans to turn up in huge numbers to give us more energy.”

JMC Hippos will miss the services of strikers Musa Bankene, Abdulrahim Ajab, while  Kato will wait for a late fitness test.

Captain Mike Mutyaba, Simon Sserunkuma and Ismael Kazibwe are all out of contention for a place in Lule’s travelling squad.
