Rubanda Head Teacher Defiles P6 Pupil

A 48 year old Primary school head teacher in the western district of Rubanda has been arrested for allegedly defiling a Primary Six pupil of the same school.

Michael Murangira, who heads Kabaya Primary School in Muko Sub County was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly defiling his 15 year old pupil.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday at around 4pm. It is alleged that Murangira invited the victim to his residence supposedly to send her to pick him something at the shop.

After reaching his residence, the suspect turned and forced her into his room and defiled her. The girl says he later he threatened to kill her if she talked.

Jackline Muheki, the mother to the victim says she became suspicious after her child returned from school late at around 7 pm while crying.

On inquiring, the victim revealed that she was defiled by the head teacher. She ran to police and reported the matter.

Police led by Fred Wemunga, the Officer-in-charge of Karengyere Police Station  stormed  Kabaya primary school and  arrested Murangira and detained him at Muko Police post.

Hebert Byaruhanga, the Chairperson LC III for Muko Sub County condemned the act, the second of its kind in the sub county in two months.

Byaruhanga says that Didas Karugaba, a teacher at Iremeera Primary School in Muko sub county, Rubanda District allegedly defiled a 14 year old pupil at the same school in early November.

Karugaba is said to have sent the pupil to the school store to pick nails for repairing a rake. The minor was heard by fellow pupils and teachers crying inside the store before Karugaba got out and fled never to be seen again since.

Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi says the suspect will appear before court to answer to charges of aggravated defilement after the investigations into the matter are complete.
