Former head of intelligence Gen David Sejusa appeared Friday morning before High Court judge Justice Wilson Masalu Museni and reapplied for bail after the General Court Martial refused to give him one on two occasions.
In his application filed in court by his counsels that included Rwadislaus Rwakafuzi, David Mushabe, Kenneth Munungu and Yunus Kasirivu Sejusa has pointed out that at 62, he is of advanced age and therefore deserving to be released on bail.
Sejusa’s lawyers also told court that their client, having voluntarily returned to the country from exile, he would have no reason to jump the bail.
He then presented in court two sureties Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Dr Deo Kizito Lukyamuzi of Case Clinic, Buganda road.
These same sureties were the reason he was denied bail at the army court, owing to the fact that they are not serving army officers.
Today’s hearing however was conducted in the absence the State Prosecution, despite being served two weeks before today.
The judge decided to proceed with the hearing of this application saying that the DPP was aware of the session.
He adjourned the matter to afternoon to deliver his ruling.
