Former presidential aspirant Amama Mbabazi has for the first time spoken about his lawyer Fred Muwema who was absent during his Supreme Court election petition.

Rumor has for the past weeks made rounds that Muwema was part of an inside job that was responsible for the break-in at his law chambers leading to loss of crucial evidence in the polls petition.

It was reported that Mbabazi had stopped Muwema from representing him as one of his legal officers.

However, addressing journalists on Thursday afternoon at his offices in Nakasero, Mbabazi rubbished the rumors insisting Muwema is still part of legal team and would continue to represent him in other cases.

“His firm was one of our main legal teams in the petition. He was sick and has just returned from abroad. We agreed for one reason or the other that he would not be in the team (in court),”Mbabazi told journalists.

“I had very many lawyers behind the scene I did not mention. Muwema is my long time lawyer and is still my lawyer.”

Mbabazi cited a case in which the National Bank of Commerce, where he was one of the shareholders was illegally closed and revealed that Muwema is one of the lawyers representing him in the matter.

Muwema recently rubbished the claims he was given a whooping shs900 million by President Museveni to betray his client.

The lawyer has since written to Facebook asking for the identity of a one Tom Voltaire Okwalinga, who he said was responsible for the dissemination of the said information.
