Officials from opposition political party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) say they have learnt about clandestine plans by Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko to fund a mission aimed at sabotaging Dr. Kizza Besigye’s homecoming function.

The FDC stalwart is expected to return to Uganda on Monday from Europe where he has spent more than a month preaching the need for a political change back home.

However, addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Saturday afternoon, FDC Vice Chairperson for Buganda Joyce Nabbosa Ssebuggwawo told journalists they have been reliably informed of two Members of Parliament working around the clock to see that Besigye’s homecoming does not go according to plan.

“We shall ask them to tell us their intentions and good enough we have known them in time. They should know that we have identified them,” Ssebuggwawo said, declining to mention names.

The party national mobilizer and Iron Lady, Ingrid Turinawe revealed that one of the said Members of Parliament was Nsereko stressing that they will deal with him accordingly.

“We got information but shall investigate it. We were told Nsereko is giving out money to boda boda riders so as to sabotage Dr. Besigye’s homecoming on Monday,” Turinawe said.

“He has on many occasions attacked Besigye but we ask him to leave the man alone because he cannot manage him. Let him find his level.”

She said it is absurd that the Kampala Central MP is laboring to frustrate their programs but noted he will not succeed.

Turinawe said arrangements are in final stages to see that Dr. Besigye is given a warm welcome on Monday morning stressing that police has given them a go ahead to continue with their program.

“We agreed with them (police) that they will give us a lead car to help traffic move. They will also escort him to Najjanankumbi and later his home in Kasangati.”

However, the personnel in charge of defense in FDC and Busia municipal council Mayor Amin Sadiq warned that they will remain peaceful throughout the procession unless anyone tries to disrupt them. “We shall engage whoever tries to cause chaos on the day.”
