“You don’t have to be a billionaire to believe you can make a difference. Give your resources to a charity and volunteer in your community,” wrote Germany Kent in his book “Change the World”.

The adage falls in line with badminton player Edwin Ekiring who has decided to give back to the community by organising a week long clinic.

The badminton player will run a seven day free badminton clinic with the aim of trying to improve skills of the raising stars.

Ekiring while launching the program at the Uganda Olympic Commission offices in Lugogo on Friday revealed that the clinic is aimed at giving skills to the kids.

“I have offered this at a free cost as a way of giving back to community. We hope the clinic will help the kids acquire the skills and learn the more about badminton,” said Ekiring.

“I have played the game for quite a while including playing abroad, so I want to pass on those skills to the raising stars,” he added.

The Uganda Olympic Commission President, William Blick thanked Ekiring for the noble cause of tapping and equipping the kids with skills.

“I want to appreciate Ekiring for the great work he is doing for this country. I think what he is doing is good for the game, trying to give  kids life long skills,” said Blick.

The clinic will have two age categories from 10-14 years and 15-19 years and is expected to start on Monday September 11 at Lugogo indoor stadium.
